About
History
Our first exhibition in 2021 was the lockdown brainchild of Emma Taylor, a local printmaker and educator.
She chanced upon a collection of vintage pianola rolls and accidently purchased a hundred which formed the inspiration behind the ‘Songs of the River’ exhibition.
The group embarked on a second exhibition in 2022: ‘Stories of the Sea’. The success of these exhibitions inspired us to form a more permanent identity, hence Salt Edge Arts, which was born in January 2023.
Further exhibitions have since taken place, and our group continues to explore different creative themes and opportunities.
The name Salt Edge Arts makes reference to both our location and inspiration.
Location
South Hill Barn, Seaford, is the home of our yearly Summer Exhibition, situated near Cuckmere Haven. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the South Downs National Park, Sussex.
Vision
The sea, the local coastline and spirit of the place we know as Cuckmere Haven is the focus of our inspiration, interwoven with different stories, ideas and creative themes. Our exhibitions involve an eclectic mix of artistic styles, which together create a unique collective visual experience.
